Eddie Song, born and raised in Taiwan, has translated three Nobel laureates, three Pulitzer winners, three National Book Award winners, and two Booker Prize winners. In 2023, he won the most prestigious literary translation award in Taiwan, along with a Readers’ Choice Award and Nonfiction of the Year Award for his debut Are Translators Traitors.
Eddie has translated Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Jonathan Franzen, Susan Orlean, Philip Roth, Dan Brown, George Saunders, and Annie Proulx, who once commented, “Mr. Song asked some of the most intelligent questions that any translator has.”
With two master’s degrees, one in journalism and the other in technical writing, Eddie has worked as a simultaneous interpreter, reporter, news editor and technical communicator, but literary translation is his ultimate calling. Dozens of his titles are available in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
